Curator Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld, son of former French Vogue Editor Carine, co-hosted the opening of Richard Hambleton’s retrospective exhibition at Phillips de Pury last night in New York. Sponsored by Giorgio Armani, the event was more like a fashion show than an art opening, attracting a mélange of high profile guests such as Lauren Hutton, Nicky Hilton, Angela Simmons, and Byrdie Bell, among others. Even Greek shipping heir Stavros Niarchos was there, showing off his abs for a moment as he pulled off his sweater to cool off in the hot, crowded exhibition space. While stylish partygoers were there to celebrate the art on the walls, the beautiful shoes in the room kept diverting my eyes to the floor for much of the night.
