Jenny Packham Packs a Punch

This morning, at her Autumn/Winter 2012  runway show, British designer Jenny Packham displayed her edgier side, surprising New York’s fashion elite with striking, silky silhouettes evocative of those worn by 1940s silver-screen glamazons. The confidently draped gowns, each one enlivened with shimmering beads, flowing chiffon, or antique lace, exhibit a newfound strength and attitude in Packham’s designs which coincides with her recent catapult to success. I wonder if this means Duchess Catherine of Cambridge—one of Packham’s most famous admirers—will be adopting a slightly more assertive style herself?
